This attractive dome Kettle is very impressive. It has many pluses which is why it got on the top 10 best kettles of 2020 list. The Russell Hobbs Oslo 23900(see the lowest price) has an excellent limescale filter. It also has a very quick heating time and the boil is quiet.

This is a stainless steel Kettle that also comes with a variety of colours such as grey, white and blue. This Kettle has internal and external markers and can hold up to 1.6 litres of water. The external water window shows you marks of two and four cups and also the maximum fill level. On the internal markers, you can see the level for one, two or three cups.

It takes about two minutes and 20 seconds to boil one litre of water which should be enough for three or four hot drinks. If you want to boil just for yourself a mug of 250 ml, you can have it in about 46 seconds leaving you just enough time to grab the biscuits before it’s ready.

If the sound of the kettle still bubbling, wasting electricity after it finished boiling is bothering you, you should know that the automatic switch-off is extremely prompt in stopping the boiling straight away.

Even though we saw a few drips after we finished pouring it pours well and it’s also easy to fill. Across the spout, it clips the limescale filter which consists of a fine mesh. You don’t have to worry about debris or flakes in your mug because the limescale filter is highly effective.

Downsides

There’s not much to complain about this kettle, but because there are a lot of crannies and nooks inside that are hard to get to, cleaning them is a bit difficult. On the outside, you also get some dirt traps around the handle, lid and spout.

The cable is quite short, about 68 cm. This means that when you set up your kettle, the plug must be pretty close. 

Another small downside might be that you have to get the lid off manually. You may have gotten used to an easy spring release lid.

Verdict

This is the highest-scoring dome kettle and if you love the traditional look and you don’t want to compromise on performance this is the best choice. It does everything a kettle should do, the best a kettle can do.

This is a jug-like kettle from Russell Hobbs. It can hold up to 1.7 litres of water. Inside you can see the filling levels for one, two and three cups so you know how much water to add inside for how many cups you need, but unfortunately that’s not on the outside as well. On the outside, you can see the max fill but not the minimum cup level. 

While being quieter than most, this kettle would be a good fit for an open-plan kitchen because it won’t disturb the silence late at night if your family is asleep. 

This kettle is boiling one litre of water in under two and a half minutes which is quick. It also turns itself off almost instantly saving you loads of otherwise wasted energy with other kettles. It boils water even faster if you want just the minimum amount. You’ll barely have time to get the cup if it’s too far because it boils in less than a minute.

The markings for seeing the water level are reasonably clear and lit by a blue light when the kettle is heating. This adds a nice glow to the water which is not only useful but beautiful as well. 

Even if you live in a hard-water area, limescale won’t be a problem with this kettle since the filter is really good and easy to remove and clean.

One aspect that we really liked about this kettle is that you can boil just one cup if you want to but unfortunately you won’t be able to see the markings unless you open the lid because the level for one cup is too low and it can’t be seen on the external water gauge.

Downsides

There’s one downside with this kettle, which most of the kettles usually have, and that is the difficulty of cleaning because there are dirt traps and crevices inside and out. Don’t worry about the main body though as it can easily be cleaned with one damp cloth to keep it shining.

Verdict

This is the second from the top 10 best kettles of 2020. It is a bit pricier than the first one so you should be aware of that, but if you like the design and you think it’s worth it for you we believe this is an awesome kettle that’s easy to use, quick and also quiet and you should definitely buy it.

If you’re filling with the lid closed you can’t see the individual cups level from inside but you have two external water windows to see the level of the water.

Downsides

Verdict

This kettle is pretty similar to the previous one so you know it’s a good choice and it’s even a bit cheaper. It’s mostly a colour difference.

The lid is easily opened and the opening is very wide which makes it really easy to fill up.

Downsides

You don’t have a minimum fill marking and the markings that you have are quite hard to read.

You won’t be able to fill the kettle through the spout because it’s too small, you’ll have to use the lid.

Because it’s made of glass, this kettle will be harder to keep clean since the clear surface shows every mark. 

The noise levels on this kettle are a bit over the limit when it’s boiling.

Verdict

This still remains a great choice even with the downsides that it has. Mostly if you like a glass kettle and its design.

Downsides

Other than a few gaps around it the limescale filter has a fine mesh so it will be good at retaining most of the flakes out. The filter is easy to replace even though it is a bit hard to remove.

It has a light body making it easy to lift and it’s comfortable to use.

Downsides

The noise levels, while not the loudest, they’re still louder than they should be. When boiling there is a harsh noise that may bother people who want their kitchen as quiet as possible.

It’s not really easy to get the cleaning around the markings inside done and also the outside has some dirt traps. Also, the markings inside are towards back making them hard to see while filling the kettle.

Verdict

This kettle is a top 10 best kettle of 2020 and can be bought for a bargain price but you should mind the noise levels.

Downsides

There’s a dark and small window behind the handle that gives you a hard time for seeing the levels.

The filter is not as good as you may think. While it being easy to remove and clean, a few bits of limescale can sometimes get trough.

It does have a louder noise while boiling than the other ones.

Verdict

If you’re looking to save energy and you need to boil less water then this is a good one for you.

If you have guests and need to boil more cups of water this will be as good as the others at two-and-a-half minutes to boil four cups of water. Meanwhile, you can just about finish toasting some bread for your guests.

The filter is very good and you won’t get any limescale in your tea or your guests’ tea. It’s also easy to remove and clean it if you want to.

Downsides

You have to know that this kettle is not that noisy when boiling but not that silent either. It is louder than most of the kettles we reviewed here tough. Cleaning this kettle is not that hard but mind the fingerprints because it’s easy to see them on this kettle.

If you have bigger hands then this kettle’s handle might be a bit uncomfortable for you.

One of the big downsides of this kettle is the lack of window to see the water levels. You need to rely on the inside markings which are not that visible since they’re placed near the handle. It might be a bit hard to figure out how much water is inside the kettle.

Verdict

Even though it has a few downsides and it is quite old it still remains one of the best buys even today. It’s worth mentioning that the price also helps on that.

Downsides

The shiny surface of the chrome handle looks good but can be slippery if you have wet hands. 

It can be hard to see the water level on the water gauge and also the minimum level is not marked. You have inside markings for the minimum level but they’re at the back of the kettle so also a bit hard to see.

This kettle has a lot of tricky areas to reach inside and outside so it is harder than usual to clean. The grooves in the logo are very tricky to clean as well and can sometimes get quite dirty.

Verdict

It will definitely look well on your worktop and it passed all the important tests.

If the price deters you from buying or not, that’s up to you. This Bosch Sky TWK7203GB  (see the lowest price) kettle boils quickly, is user-friendly and energy-efficient. Even though it’s the last on this list it still is part of the best 10 kettles of 2020.

This is one of the most expensive kettles that we’ve reviewed and it can hold, like the others, 1.7 litres of water. It has a minimalist design which will add to your kitchen. You also have the option of a matching toaster, the Bosch TAT7203GB Sky.

The Bosch Sky TWK7203G comes with a touchscreen base that allows you to select temperatures. This comes in handy for drinks like the green tea which are better made at a lower temperature. You can go up and down from 70 to 100 in 5-degree increments. Another handy feature is the 30-minute keep-warm function. You also have four preset temperature settings for different drinks.

It will take just 44 seconds to boil enough for one mug(330ml) with this kettle. The one litre boil time is maybe a bit faster than the other ones at about 2 minutes and 24 seconds.

The limescale filter is also among the best and it will serve you well even if you live in an area with hard water. There are no gaps around the filter and it has a very fine mesh.

It’s one of the most efficient kettles switching off the second it boils.

Downsides

Noise-wise this kettle is in the middle. Not too noisy but not too quiet, it will bother the ones sensitive to noise. It also has a function that beeps when it’s turned on and then again when it finished boiling. In spite of the fact that this might be helpful, you may find this noise irritating after a while.

The water levels are a bit hard to see even though you might be in bright conditions. It does feel quite heavy even if it’s only filled up to the minimum level.

Verdict

If the price is not a problem for you, and you want a smart kettle with different temperature settings then, even though this is number ten on this list this will be a great kettle for you.
