    Negatives

    • Dirt Traps Make it Laborious to Clean

This attractive dome Kettle is very impressive. It has many pluses which is why it got on the top 10 best kettles of 2020 list. The Russell Hobbs Oslo 23900(see the lowest price) has an excellent limescale filter. It also has a very quick heating time and the boil is quiet.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.5 Liters

    Weight: 0.9kg

    Minimum fill volume: 250ml

    Wattage: 2520 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Dome

    Colours: Grey, White, Blue

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

This is a stainless steel Kettle that also comes with a variety of colours such as grey, white and blue. This Kettle has internal and external markers and can hold up to 1.6 litres of water. The external water window shows you marks of two and four cups and also the maximum fill level. On the internal markers, you can see the level for one, two or three cups.

It takes about two minutes and 20 seconds to boil one litre of water which should be enough for three or four hot drinks. If you want to boil just for yourself a mug of 250 ml, you can have it in about 46 seconds leaving you just enough time to grab the biscuits before it’s ready.

If the sound of the kettle still bubbling, wasting electricity after it finished boiling is bothering you, you should know that the automatic switch-off is extremely prompt in stopping the boiling straight away.

Even though we saw a few drips after we finished pouring it pours well and it’s also easy to fill. Across the spout, it clips the limescale filter which consists of a fine mesh. You don’t have to worry about debris or flakes in your mug because the limescale filter is highly effective.

    Downsides

There’s not much to complain about this kettle, but because there are a lot of crannies and nooks inside that are hard to get to, cleaning them is a bit difficult. On the outside, you also get some dirt traps around the handle, lid and spout.

The cable is quite short, about 68 cm. This means that when you set up your kettle, the plug must be pretty close.

Another small downside might be that you have to get the lid off manually. You may have gotten used to an easy spring release lid.

    Verdict

This is the highest-scoring dome kettle and if you love the traditional look and you don’t want to compromise on performance this is the best choice. It does everything a kettle should do, the best a kettle can do.

    • Very Quick
    • Excellent Limescale Filter
    • Quiet
    • Can Boil One Cup
    • Easy to Use

    Negatives

    • Difficult to clean

An awesome kettle that has almost every box ticked. The Russell Hobbs Eclipse 25111(see the lowest price) is convenient, quick, and quiet and it also has an excellent limescale filter. It’s part of the top 10 best kettles of 2020 nonetheless.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.9kg

    Minimum fill volume: 286ml

    Wattage: 2520 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Grey, Red, Blue

     Material: Metal

    Benefits

This is a jug-like kettle from Russell Hobbs. It can hold up to 1.7 litres of water. Inside you can see the filling levels for one, two and three cups so you know how much water to add inside for how many cups you need, but unfortunately that’s not on the outside as well. On the outside, you can see the max fill but not the minimum cup level.

While being quieter than most, this kettle would be a good fit for an open-plan kitchen because it won’t disturb the silence late at night if your family is asleep.

This kettle is boiling one litre of water in under two and a half minutes which is quick. It also turns itself off almost instantly saving you loads of otherwise wasted energy with other kettles. It boils water even faster if you want just the minimum amount. You’ll barely have time to get the cup if it’s too far because it boils in less than a minute.

The markings for seeing the water level are reasonably clear and lit by a blue light when the kettle is heating. This adds a nice glow to the water which is not only useful but beautiful as well.

Even if you live in a hard-water area, limescale won’t be a problem with this kettle since the filter is really good and easy to remove and clean.

One aspect that we really liked about this kettle is that you can boil just one cup if you want to but unfortunately you won’t be able to see the markings unless you open the lid because the level for one cup is too low and it can’t be seen on the external water gauge.

    Downsides

There’s one downside with this kettle, which most of the kettles usually have, and that is the difficulty of cleaning because there are dirt traps and crevices inside and out. Don’t worry about the main body though as it can easily be cleaned with one damp cloth to keep it shining.

    Verdict

This is the second from the top 10 best kettles of 2020. It is a bit pricier than the first one so you should be aware of that, but if you like the design and you think it’s worth it for you we believe this is an awesome kettle that’s easy to use, quick and also quiet and you should definitely buy it.

    Positives

    • Very Quick
    • Excellent Limescale Filter
    • Quiet
    • Can Boil as Little as One Cup
    • Easy to Open, Fill and Use

    Negatives

    • Difficult to Clean

This is still a great kettle, even in 2020. The Russell Hobbs Luna 23210(see the lowest price)is quick, quiet, the limescale filter is quite good and it’s convenient to use.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.9kg

    Minimum fill volume: 285ml

    Wattage: 2520 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Grey, Red

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

This kettle can also hold about 1.7 litres of water and it has levels inside for one, two or three cups.

If you’re filling with the lid closed you can’t see the individual cups level from inside but you have two external water windows to see the level of the water.

It’s really fast at boiling water, under two-and-a-half minutes, and even faster if you boil the minimum amount which is under one minute. It stops really quick after it boils so you save energy.

The Russell Hobbs Luna 23210 has a blue light that glows trough water making the markings easier to see.

The filter is really good at keeping all the things that you don’t want in your tea.

    Downsides

Quite difficult to clean all the dirt traps and crevices although the main body is easily cleanable.

Even though you can boil from as low as one cup you won’t be able to see the markings unless you look inside.

    Verdict

This kettle is pretty similar to the previous one so you know it’s a good choice and it’s even a bit cheaper. It’s mostly a colour difference.

    Positives

    • Very Quick
    • Can Boil Small Amounts
    • Excellent Limescale Filter
    • Easy to Fill
    • Comfortable Handle

    Negatives

    • Water Level Markings are Hard to Read
    • Can’t fill through spout

The Russell Hobbs Illuminating 21600 (see the lowest price) is one of the best glass kettles that has been reviewed.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 1kg

    Minimum fill volume: 250ml

    Wattage: 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Copper

    Material: Glass

    Benefits

Like most of the kettles, this one can also hold up to 1.7 litres of water. It also has a clear glass body. Boiling 3-4 cups of water(1 litre) takes less the two-and-a-half minutes which is very quick. As little as 250 ml of water can be boiled with this kettle and it boils it in under a minute. The limescale filter is also excellent and you don’t have to worry about foreign things in your tea.

The lid is easily opened and the opening is very wide which makes it really easy to fill up.
The handle seems quite comfortable and makes the pouring accurate. One more thing to mention is that this kettle comes with a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

    Downsides

You don’t have a minimum fill marking and the markings that you have are quite hard to read.

You won’t be able to fill the kettle through the spout because it’s too small, you’ll have to use the lid.

Because it’s made of glass, this kettle will be harder to keep clean since the clear surface shows every mark.

The noise levels on this kettle are a bit over the limit when it’s boiling.

    Verdict

This still remains a great choice even with the downsides that it has. Mostly if you like a glass kettle and its design.

    Filter ★★★★★★★★★☆ 9.9

    Positives

    • Excellent Filter
    • Easy to Use

    Negatives

    • Hard to Clean
    • Can’t See Water Levels

The Bosch ComfortLine TWK6A011GB(see the lowest price) is one of the best buys of this year. A great kettle with a good design which is energy efficient, quick and quiet.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.9kg

    Minimum fill volume: 300ml

    Wattage: 2600 – 3100 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: White

    Material: Plastic

    Benefits

1.7-litre capacity on this kettle with a lock-in place lid while boiling and switch lights to show whether it’s on or not. Just two minutes and 23 seconds to boil one litre of water which is enough for four cups of tea. You can also boil one cup if you need just one which obviously will be even faster.

Like most of the best buy kettles, the limescale is excellent so you don’t have to worry about things that shouldn’t be in your tea.

This kettle is generally easy to use and filling and pouring are easy to do as opposed to some other kettles. It also beats the noise level of most kettles being one of the quietest.

One more thing. It comes with a two-year guarantee.

    Downsides

The water level is hard to see at first glance because the window is quite dark. You might want to shine a light trough or hold it up.

It’s hard to clean inside due to the lid opening being quite small. Make sure you keep your fingers out of the lid after it finished boiling because it gets quite hot.

    Verdict

Just a couple of minor flaws with this kettle which doesn’t deter from the fact that this is also part of the top 10 best kettles 2020.

    Positives

    • Energy Efficient
    • Very Fast
    • Easy to Use
    • Good Filter

    Negatives

    • Not the Quietest
    • Hard To Clean

A very low minimum fill, a decent limescale filter and a quick to boil recommends the Russell Hobbs Cavendish 25500(see the lowest price) as one of the top 10 best kettles in 2020.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.8kg

    Minimum fill volume: 250ml

    Wattage: 2520 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: No

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Red, Black, Stainless Steel,

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

A kettle with a teardrop-shaped simple design water gauge and switch, made from stainless steel, and a capacity of 1.7 litres.

Even though it’s a bit slower at boiling one litre of water compared with the other one you won’t even notice because the difference is just a few seconds. You also have the option to boil one cup of tea which it does in less than a minute.

The low minimum fill is also great for those of us that don’t like wasting water. This kettle is also energy efficient since the switch is very quick after boiling.

Other than a few gaps around it the limescale filter has a fine mesh so it will be good at retaining most of the flakes out. The filter is easy to replace even though it is a bit hard to remove.

It has a light body making it easy to lift and it’s comfortable to use.

    Downsides

The noise levels, while not the loudest, they’re still louder than they should be. When boiling there is a harsh noise that may bother people who want their kitchen as quiet as possible.

It’s not really easy to get the cleaning around the markings inside done and also the outside has some dirt traps. Also, the markings inside are towards back making them hard to see while filling the kettle.

    Verdict

This kettle is a top 10 best kettle of 2020 and can be bought for a bargain price but you should mind the noise levels.

    Filter ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6

    Positives

    • Boils Quickly
    • Can Boil a Single Cup
    • Easy to Fill and Pour

    Negatives

    • Not Easy to See Water Levels
    • Filter Could be Better

The Kenwood Scene ZJM180WH(see the lowest price), while only having some minor flaws, it’s a good kettle. This kettle has a very low minimum fill which makes it energy efficient and convenient.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.6 Liters

    Weight: 1kg

    Minimum fill volume: 200ml

    Wattage: 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Red, White, Grey

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

This kettle does hold a bit less water than the other ones(1.6 litres) but it has a lower minimum fill of just 200 ml. This means that you can boil as little as a small mug’s worth of water and you’ll save time and energy as well.

The Kenwood Scene ZJM180WH can boil water as quickly as the other ones ( one litre in two-and-a-half minutes).

This is one of the easier to clean so you’ll have less rough time cleaning this one.

It’s easy to fill up because it has a wide opening and the lid is easy to open. You can pour water inside very accurately, it doesn’t matter if it’s empty or almost full.

It has a matching toaster, the Kenwood Scene TTM480WH.

    Downsides

There’s a dark and small window behind the handle that gives you a hard time for seeing the levels.

The filter is not as good as you may think. While it being easy to remove and clean, a few bits of limescale can sometimes get trough.

It does have a louder noise while boiling than the other ones.

    Verdict

If you’re looking to save energy and you need to boil less water then this is a good one for you.

    Positives

    • Can Boil Just One Cup
    • Fast
    • Good Limescale Filter

    Negatives

    • The Handle isn’t Comfortable
    • No Water Window

The Russell Hobbs Cambridge 20071(see the lowest price) has only a few flaws one of which being hard to see how full it is. Even though this is an older model it still is a good buy and is a cheap one as well.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.7kg

    Minimum fill volume: 235ml

    Wattage: 3000 W

    Matching toaster: No

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Silver

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

The Cambridge 20071 kettle from Russell Hobbs has a capacity of 1.7 litres of water. It is quite light(0.7kg)given the fact that it is made from metal and it also is very affordable.

If you’re looking to get that morning tea or coffee before you go to work and you don’t have too much time on your hands then this one will help you. You can boil as low as one cup with this kettle and it takes about 45 seconds to boil it.

If you have guests and need to boil more cups of water this will be as good as the others at two-and-a-half minutes to boil four cups of water. Meanwhile, you can just about finish toasting some bread for your guests.

The filter is very good and you won’t get any limescale in your tea or your guests’ tea. It’s also easy to remove and clean it if you want to.

It pours the water well and it doesn’t drip and it’s also easy to open the lid.

It does switch off pretty quick after boiling so you don’t have to worry about wasted electricity.

This kettle comes with a three-year guarantee if you register on the Russell Hobbs website.

    Downsides

You have to know that this kettle is not that noisy when boiling but not that silent either. It is louder than most of the kettles we reviewed here tough. Cleaning this kettle is not that hard but mind the fingerprints because it’s easy to see them on this kettle.

If you have bigger hands then this kettle’s handle might be a bit uncomfortable for you.

One of the big downsides of this kettle is the lack of window to see the water levels. You need to rely on the inside markings which are not that visible since they’re placed near the handle. It might be a bit hard to figure out how much water is inside the kettle.

    Verdict

Even though it has a few downsides and it is quite old it still remains one of the best buys even today. It’s worth mentioning that the price also helps on that.

    • Quick and Quiet Boiling
    • Great Limescale Filter

    Negatives

    • Tricky to Clean
    • Hard to See Water Level

This kettle has high scores on the most important tests and a great design which will complement a modern kitchen. The Russell Hobbs Inspire 24361(see the lowest price) doesn’t cost a fortune, is quick and quiet and you also save energy using it.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 0.94kg

    Minimum fill volume: 250ml

    Wattage: 2520 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Red, Black, White

    Material: Plastic

    Benefits

Like all the kettles up until now, it holds 1.7 litres of water, nothing new here. It is made of plastic with an interesting design.

You can also boil one cup with it and it’s ready in about 48 seconds which is really good. Just enough to get the milk and teabag for your tea. Like usual, one litre of water is boiled in two-and-half minutes.

This is an energy saver as it stops really quick after boiling.

The limescale filter is really easy to wash and it’s easy to get rid of the limescale deposits as well. It’s really good at keeping the limescale out of your delicious tea.

This kettle won’t disrupt your silence too much particularly towards the boil. It is generally easy to use, fill up and pour. The lid doesn’t get hot and it’s easy to pull off.

You also get a 3-year warranty for this kettle.

The cord for the mains is longer than usual and it can be handy for crowded worktops.

    Downsides

The shiny surface of the chrome handle looks good but can be slippery if you have wet hands.

It can be hard to see the water level on the water gauge and also the minimum level is not marked. You have inside markings for the minimum level but they’re at the back of the kettle so also a bit hard to see.

This kettle has a lot of tricky areas to reach inside and outside so it is harder than usual to clean. The grooves in the logo are very tricky to clean as well and can sometimes get quite dirty.

    Verdict

It will definitely look well on your worktop and it passed all the important tests.

    Positives

    • Energy Efficient

    • Excellent Limescale Filte

    Negatives

    • Hard to Read Water Gauge
    • Heavy

If the price deters you from buying or not, that’s up to you. This Bosch Sky TWK7203GB  (see the lowest price) kettle boils quickly, is user-friendly and energy-efficient. Even though it’s the last on this list it still is part of the best 10 kettles of 2020.

    Specs

    Capacity: 1.7 Liters

    Weight: 2kg

    Minimum fill volume: 331ml

    Wattage: 2500 – 3000 W

    Matching toaster: Yes

    Type: Full-size kettle

    Shape: Jug

    Colours: Black, White

    Material: Metal

    Benefits

This is one of the most expensive kettles that we’ve reviewed and it can hold, like the others, 1.7 litres of water. It has a minimalist design which will add to your kitchen. You also have the option of a matching toaster, the Bosch TAT7203GB Sky.

The Bosch Sky TWK7203G comes with a touchscreen base that allows you to select temperatures. This comes in handy for drinks like the green tea which are better made at a lower temperature. You can go up and down from 70 to 100 in 5-degree increments. Another handy feature is the 30-minute keep-warm function. You also have four preset temperature settings for different drinks.

It will take just 44 seconds to boil enough for one mug(330ml) with this kettle. The one litre boil time is maybe a bit faster than the other ones at about 2 minutes and 24 seconds.

The limescale filter is also among the best and it will serve you well even if you live in an area with hard water. There are no gaps around the filter and it has a very fine mesh.

It’s one of the most efficient kettles switching off the second it boils.

    Downsides

Noise-wise this kettle is in the middle. Not too noisy but not too quiet, it will bother the ones sensitive to noise. It also has a function that beeps when it’s turned on and then again when it finished boiling. In spite of the fact that this might be helpful, you may find this noise irritating after a while.

The water levels are a bit hard to see even though you might be in bright conditions. It does feel quite heavy even if it’s only filled up to the minimum level.

    Verdict

If the price is not a problem for you, and you want a smart kettle with different temperature settings then, even though this is number ten on this list this will be a great kettle for you.
